Hi, my name is Melissa.
Welcome to my studio!
I am a believer in Jesus Christ, an author, and an artist. I've been married to my husband for 23 years! We have two great kids and a cat named Shalom.
I love to sing and play the guitar.
My favorite place in our home is my studio.
This is the place where my faith and art come together and nourish my soul deeply. I hope what you find here will do the same for you.

Why Art and Books?
I am a writer and an artist. I find that both words and images are necessary for me as I seek to communicate the truth and goodness that I behold. Words are required to communicate with clarity. Yet, I cannot imagine that words are enough to communicate the depths and complexities of the universe and human existence. There is mystery and wonder at play all around us. And it is this 'unknowing', that increases our awareness of the glory of our Creator; and that is what I seek to communicate with my art.
Why Abstract Realism ?
Abstract Realism has the ability to take the viewer on a journey beyond what they understand cognitively. It invites the viewer to consider the realities that lie outside of time and space, and yet within them, the realities of God and His Kingdom.
We are, by design, living within time and space; and it is within these confines that we try to make sense of the world. Yet it is these very confines that often limit the understanding that can come through imagination and wonder. They are meant to teach us about the deeper realities of God and His world. Instead, so often, they box us into our understanding, causing us to assume that "this is all there is”.
But no, God is bigger than our current comprehension, and so is His Kingdom. In fact, they are more real than the reality we find ourselves in. Abstract Realism Art has the ability to reignite the curiosity, wonder and hope that there is more to this life than just what we can understand. There is depth, meaning, beauty and glory far beyond what our minds can currently make sense of.
This is the realm where God dwells.
It is the spiritual, the unseen yet felt,
the eternal yet present,
the untouchable yet practical,
the mysterious glory within and beyond the dailyness of life.
He invites us into this, His Kingdom, through faith. This faith is the settled assurance in things we can't yet see or fully understand, but know with every fiber of our beings are reality. My aim is to paint in such a way as to invite the viewer into a moment of wonder that elevates their faith in the spiritual above the physical; to encourage the assurance of the heart that there is in fact more to this life than the eye alone can see and the mind alone can grasp. Yes, there is Yahweh, God.
