Beauty for Comfort
Beauty for Comfort
Have you ever been in physical, mental, or emotional pain and felt comfort, and even relief, when you saw something beautiful?
Did you know that doctors in various countries around the world are starting to prescribe free visits to museums to their patients to aid in mental and physical healing?
I think that's incredible!
Science is finally catching up to what God has known all along.
Beauty is comforting and even healing.
Why?
Whether people realize it or not, one reason beauty is so comforting is because it reminds our souls of the truth that God is real, present, powerful, and good.
The pains of this life, felt in the body or the mind, can cause confusion and even numbness. The presence of beauty bypasses the cloud of confusion, numbness, and pain and gets straight to the heart where it can bring a sense of comfort.
Beauty is often more capable that words to slip past reason and access the soul with the balm of the presence of God.
We can't see God - but we can see evidence of God. His fingerprints are all around us both in nature and in what humans create. From architecture, to fashion, to fine art and beyond the universal assertion of and desire for beauty is evidence of God.
He IS beautiful!
Beauty surrounds Him.
What He creates is beautiful.
What His creation creates can be beautiful.
To be surrounded by beauty is a legitimate and significant source of comfort to people.
Humanity longs for it.
You're Invited!
Mark your calendars
Here's a chance for you to immerse yourself in the comfort and joy
of beauty this Christmas season. I am organizing Lynchburg's first ever
Faith-Filled, First-Friday, Christmas Fine Art Market.
It will be held at Firehouse 4 on December 4, from 5-9.
Pop in anytime to meander through the displays, with an appetizer, and enjoy the benefits of beauty created by artists right here in the Lynchburg area. This will also be a chance for you to see the Wonder Collection in person!
You might even go home with the perfect Christmas present for someone you care about!
See the information below for more details.
So, go outside, head to a museum, a gallery, or your local flower, and take in some beauty.
Blessings,
Melissa
