The Constancy of Wonder - Where Knowing Ends and Wonder Begins

Bible Verse for the Wonder Collection

I have a question for you:

In moments when life slows and your mind is free to wander, what do you wonder about?

If you've been following me for a while, or know me well, you know that I am passionate about pursuing knowledge and understanding of the Living God. Deep knowledge is rooted in experience, but it includes "renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:1) I even wrote a book about it! You can find it on Amazon here: One Voice, The Art of Spending Time with God.

Part of the holiness of God is that the depths of His character and works are beyond our comprehension. Even His thoughts about you are beyond your comprehension. King David said in Psalm 139:17, "How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!"

Even though He is beyond comprehension, He is consistent, so we can trust Him with the incomprehensible to be perpetually just and good.

This is the space in our lives

 where wonder exists.

The word, 'wonder' in various forms occurs hundreds of times throughout the Bible.

For us it carries a sense of deep curiosity, being in awe, and realizing that you've seen or experienced something that is beyond your current understanding. You have been impacted by something, big or small, touched by a bit of heaven on earth.

 A flower in bloom.

The changing of the seasons.

A baby being born.

An act of love in the face of hurt.

For God, wonder carries His extraordinary, eternal, good, and beautiful self and all He does. He is wonderful and all He does is wonderful. He is beyond our comprehension, yet He invites us into that space to wonder

I believe this is also the space in our lives that faith occupies. It's about trusting that when your experiences surpass your understanding, that the character and work of God remains constant. So, you can rest in His goodness in the proverbial land of faith and wonder

"And without faith it is impossible to please God..." Hebrews 11:6

God wants you to remember to 'wonder over His wonders'; to not forget, and to get comfortable with the 'unknowing' because you trust what you do know, the Living God.

The world does NOT like the places of wonder because they don't know the constancy of God who is sovereign over it all. We do. Let this set you apart, my friends. Be a person who has a settled peace in the 'land of wonder'.

The Wonder Collection

The Wonder Collection has grown from this space in my own life. Each piece is an expression of wonder over what I do not understand and peace in the wondering.

Having them in my own home these past few months has helped me to remember His wonders and rest in His gracious and compassionate character.

My hope and prayer is that as these pieces go out into the world, into homes and workplaces, they will bring peace to all who view them who are dwelling in the 'land of wonder'.

When questions weigh heavy on the mind.

When pain comes relentlessly in relationships.

When seasons of growth and transition feel unfamiliar.

When life unfolds outside what was expected.

In all that life ushers you into that causes you to wonder, I hope that you will remember the constancy and trustworthiness of our God, and that your heart will be able to rest in the glory of wonder
